Dusk was given the name by her father due to his memories of the Yorkshire twilight; she was born & grew up in Queensland. Dusk has had a passion for painting as long as she can remember. Professional art instruction from an early age due to her father observing a naturat talent; by putting these teachings to good use, Dusk won 4 bicycles & many other prizes under age 15. She has continued this trend of winning throughout life. A commercial art course & photo colourist studies undertaken whilst working as sugar chemist, added to her experience. A trip around the world encompassing nearly 50 countries in Dusk's early twenties took her to visit Yorkshire in June, to see the 'June Dusk' her namesake. After working in London, New York & Canada she went to Japan and met her late husband, a yachtsman from Canada. Following 2 yrs in Sydney, a wedding in Toronto the couple moved to an Out Island inthe Bahamas to build & run a yacht Marina for a New York Publisher/Policitian-J. Baltzell.
Many celebrities were hosted by the young couple at this private yacht club.
Dusk discovered the aqua coloured water and local native sloops- a delight to paint & found a great deal of success with her art-was commissioned to paint yachts/portraits & lge government paintings called 'We are one' During first few yrs in Bahamas Dusk was known as 'girl who paints rocks' putting scenes onto the unusual white coral, unique to the Out Islands. She held showings in Nassau, Cayman island (near Jamaica) & Florida. After 10 yrs moving back to Qld, Dusk taught art at TAFE College for 7 yrs, started painting Rodeos, Horses & Bullock teams as well as seascapes, boats & portraits whilst raising 2 childres at Kellys Beach. Moving to Hunters Hill-Sydney, 1985 for her children's higher education.
Dusk held showings at Blue Mts, Darling Hbr & Chatswood, then moved to D Y-Northern Beaches- 1988 holding showings in Mosman at Royal Volunteer Costal Patrol whilst teaching art. The Manly Wharf Gallery held solo showing of Dusk's original works from Feb. to Oct.
1994-which brought visitors from around the world to aquire her paintings. Nov/94 another win' took her back to Qld for a few yrs. Many more showings-teaching children whilst volunteering at many places for elderley, alsomany other places. After another 20 yrs in Northern Bches and Ettalong Beach, Dusk retired to the Gold Coast, Qld in 2019 with her love of painting as a hobby- in her 80s.
